A Man Conflicted: A Woman with No Family

Welcome back to Medieval Monday Spring edition (#medmonspring20). We're on week #4 and today I have my dear friend Mary Morgan visiting with an excerpt from To Weave a Highland Tapestry.

And if you're looking for my next snippet from Eyes of the Seer, you can find that over at Mary Morgan's Blog.

Enjoy :)

Standing, Gwen lifted her arms upward. “Where can I find the answers?”

The leaves on the ground rustled, and she listened intently to any message—any sign. Thinking back to her last day with Jamie, images of the yew tree flooded her thoughts. The massive giant beckoned her in the sunlight. And that’s where everything became fuzzy and unclear.

“Were you a passageway to another time?” She chewed on her bottom lip. “Didn’t Jamie mention something to me about another path?”

Wiping her nose on the back of her sleeve, Gwen plucked a leaf from a sage bush. “I’d really like an explanation as to why I’m here in the thirteenth century, so if anyone would care to impart the information, I’m listening. Or for that matter, how can I return?”

“Are ye speaking to any ghosts who may linger here or to your companion?”

Gwen jumped at the sound of the man’s voice. Turning abruptly, she stared at Patrick’s concerned expression. “There are no ghosts. Only me and a dog.”

Do they dare unravel the past for a future of love?

Patrick MacFhearguis, hardened by battles won and lost, desires what he can never have—peace within his heart and soul. Yet, the ever-meddling Fae weave a new journey for him to conquer—a task this highlander is determined to resist.

When skilled weaver, Gwen Hywel, is commissioned to create a tapestry for the MacFhearguis clan, she embraces the assignment. While seeking out ideas, she finds herself clutching the one thread that can alter the tapestry of her life and heart.

A man conflicted by past deeds. A woman with no family of her own. Is it possible for love to unravel an ancient past, in order to claim two badly scarred hearts? Or will the light of hope be doused forever?
