The Whistleblower - movie review

Movie night - The Whistleblower

Starring Rachel Weisz

(Vanessa Redgrave, too)

Weisz (who I loved as Evelyn in The Mummy) was amazing. Her American accent and straight face delivery of a hard-as* cop was extremely well done. The story had me hooked with so many twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat.

Okay - yes, I cried! The treatment of these women was horrendous and the fact that they were "our" men (outsourced military = private corporations) providing the clientele made it that much worst. This depiction of the underworld of former Yugoslavia was intensely scary.

The description with the video is "Inspired by actual events, the film tells the story of Kathryn Bolkovac, and premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival."

This movie is dark and disturbing, more so since it's "inspired by actual events". I have not read the book that it was based on. It came out in 2010, designated as a thriller.
